Every team gives their best in order to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. But this year some of fans favorites could not make it. The teams out of FIFA World Cup for the year 2022 mentions Italy and Russia.

Italy has won the World Cup four times, most recently in 2006. They also won the Euro 2020 championship last year. Portugal was the previous European winner in 2016 and has Cristiano Ronaldo, the all-time leading international men’s goal scorer.

Both sides may have qualified for the World Cup, but ultimately only Portugal did.

Why the best Teams Out of FIFA World Cup 2022?

For the supporters who hope to see all of their favorite teams in the biggest football competition, this is a very disappointing news. As these are some of the top teams that are definitely excluded from the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

Italy

It was surprising that Italy missed the World Cup for a second time in a row after not being able to make the 2018 finals. Italy went on a world-record 37-game unbeaten streak after losing to Sweden in the playoffs the previous time. 

By losing to Switzerland and Northern Ireland, they were denied a place to this year’s competition. Now, team is out of FIFA World Cup 2022 tournament.

Russia

According to the previous FIFA rankings, Russia ranked 35th. In Group H of the 2022 qualifying tournament, the 2018 World Cup hosts finished second to Croatia by one point.

Poland was scheduled to play them in the playoffs. But because FIFA and UEFA stopped Russia from competing due to the situation in Ukraine, the team could qualify. 

Norway

In Group G, Norway came in third place. Their 18 points during the season were higher than teams who moved to the playoffs. Turkey barely beat them out of a playoff spot by three points.

Additionally, the World Cup will be without players with talent like Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard due to their elimination.

Slovakia

Slovakia came in last place in Group H. They ended equal with Slovenia on 14 points, nine points behind group champions Croatia. After Russia was banned, Slovakia believed they might have had a chance to qualify, but no new team introduced to the European playoff race.

Egypt

Sadio Mane and Senegal defeated Mohamed Salah and the Liverpool side in the last round of of the African playoffs. Winning on penalties after two legs in a rematch of the AFCON final. As a result, Mohamed Salah will not be attending the World Cup.

Teams Out Of FIFA World Cup will surely have a chance next time

Fans are disappointed as they will miss their favorite players and teams on the field. The teams who could not qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup will surely have a chance a next time.

This year’s event will mark the first World Cup to stage in the Middle East and just the second in Asia. The finals in 2026 will have 48 teams, making this tournament the last one to feature 32 teams.
